About
Joshua Hickman
I’m based in Omak, Washington. I build control, inventory, and network systems for
small breweries, distilleries, wineries, and meaderies, and I keep a public Linux and
networking lab so that work stays checkable.
How I work
Years in live audio and in rooms full of people: the system has to work while someone is
watching. U.S. Army veteran — training systems and support, not a speech. Short blocks,
written notes, honesty about what I have practiced versus what I have only read. If I ask
someone to trust a process, I want to have run it myself first.
I have multi-year hands-on experience in brewing operations, including at 602 Brewing
Company. That is floor experience. It is not a client list and not a case study.
Studio name
Destroy the Kraken means solving tech that feels impossible — not a sports brand or a
crypto project. The public work is IT, automation, and software for craft drink makers.
The keg washer is one product, currently in development. Portfolio pieces for hiring
managers stay on the Portfolio page.
Path
Linux, networking, and IT operations
Career change into Linux, networking, and IT operations. Focus on production-floor
systems for small beverage producers, and on Canonical / Ubuntu-shaped admin skills.
LFS101 and LFS207 complete (April 2026, Credly). Network+ and Security+ in progress.
LFCS exam purchased; target winter 2026–2027.
Public lab notes and installers are on GitHub. I use AI to scaffold; I test and own the
result.
